Our studies, supported by federal funding agencies, including the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health, explore topics such as emotional development, learning, risk-taking and decision making. Studies are varied, but typically include visiting UCLA where you and your child may answer questionnaires and play computer games that tell us more about how your child thinks, feels, learns and behaves in everyday life. Some studies involve having an MRI or brain scan, which is a safe method to take pictures of your child’s brain.

Studies typically last between one and three hours, and may include visiting UCLA only once, or several times. Payment for participation typically ranges between $30-$150, depending on the study, and parking is offered free of charge. Appointments are scheduled during the week or weekend at your convenience.
